Privacy and cookies

1. Who processes your data. The data controller is Andrea Casiraghi, who personally runs this website. For any request regarding your data, write to andrea.l.casiraghi@gmail.com.

2. Contact form. If you use the contact form, the site collects your name, email address, subject and message. These are used solely to read and reply to what you wrote: they don't feed any newsletter, aren't shared with third parties and aren't used for profiling.

The content of your message isn't stored in any database: it's forwarded as an email, through Google's (Gmail) SMTP server, to the site owner's inbox. Only your IP address and the time of sending are kept as a technical trace, for at most one day, used exclusively to prevent repeated submissions from the same address (anti-abuse).

The legal basis is the performance of pre-contractual measures at your request and the legitimate interest in replying to whoever writes (GDPR art. 6.1.b and f). Providing this data is optional, but without a name, email and message it isn't technically possible to reply to you.

3. Visit statistics. To understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read, I use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited.

Analytics only starts if you authorise it. Until you choose, or if you choose "Decline", Google's script isn't even loaded: no cookie is installed and no data — including your IP address — is sent to Google. The legal basis is therefore your consent (GDPR art. 6.1.a), which you can withdraw at any time from the button at the bottom of this page.

If you consent, Google Analytics collects pseudonymised browsing data: pages viewed, visit duration, device and browser type, approximate geographic origin, and the site or search engine you arrived from. Your IP address is truncated by Google before being stored and isn't accessible to the site owner. Google's advertising and profiling features are disabled.

4. Cookies and local storage. The site doesn't use its own technical cookies. Some preferences are saved in your browser's local storage (localStorage) and are never sent to any server.

• cookieConsent (localStorage) — remembers your choice about measurement cookies, so it isn't asked again. Kept until you clear your browser data.
• _ga and _ga_85W2HRPGT8 (third-party cookies, Google) — distinguish visitors and keep track of the Analytics session. Installed only after your consent. Duration: 2 years.

The site also loads webfonts from Google Fonts: a technical request needed to display text correctly, which involves sending your IP address to Google's servers. No cookies are installed for this.

5. Server logs. Like any website, the server hosting these pages — Aruba S.p.A., with datacentres in the European Union — automatically logs the technical details of every request: IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type. These are collected for security and troubleshooting, on the basis of legitimate interest, and aren't used to identify visitors.

6. Transfers outside the European Union. If you consent to statistics, or if you write through the contact form, data may be transferred to the United States via Google's servers. Google adheres to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the legal framework recognised by the European Commission as an adequacy safeguard, and additionally applies Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Your rights. At any time you can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

8. Changing your mind about cookies. Your choice isn't final: you can change it at any time from here.

If you withdraw consent, Analytics stops loading from the next page onward. To delete cookies already set by Google, use your browser's browsing data deletion feature.

9. Changes to this notice. If the tools used by the site change, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change accordingly. Substantial changes will require a new consent request.
